Surprise, surprise .... the Yota has been sitting for 5 years now and doesn't want to rumble back into life so far. The only things that I have tried so far is a drying additive to the gas as well as about 3 fresh gallons (on a nearly empty tank ... I'd say only 3-4 gallons of old gas in there at most). I threw in some new spark plugs, carb-cleanered the carb (without taking it apart) and verified that is was squirting a healthy stream of fuel in each time the truck cranked over. I also tried liberal amount of starter fluid and she won't even so much as even try to fire. Starter turns the engine over very nicely and smoothly and I pulled the #1 spark plug and verified that it was indeed sparking. That means I've seen fuel going in and I've seen spark, so now it makes no sense to me. Even if the gas was too bad to burn it should make an effort to start on starting fluid. The problem is that I know NOTHING about carbs. I can do most anything with a modern engine or modern vehicle, but carbs I have no experience with. It was running great when it was parked, I just had a brake leak that sent the pedal to the floor so I parked it. Now I have to get her running before I can even address the braking issue. Any thoughts on getting her going?

Well i just did a 22R motor and did a Aisan Carb rebuild kit on it ... baby works great now only problem i have is my Choke valve" Valve on passager side" don't work properly.. try to put a bit of gas down the carb valves not to much anyhow.. and turn her over if she starts keep her going with the gas pedle rev her high and watch the exhaust if you get black and brown smoke coming out it rev it some more burn all the bad carbons outta it and warm her up make sure you watch the thermostat just so she don't try to over heat. if that don't work ... turn the carb.. there is 4 or 3 screws on the passager side of the carb . one that looks like it connects to the throttle don't worry to much about that one yet just make sure it touchs the throttle a bit when you turn the throttle full .. there is a lil screw down under that one a bit .. that one is the fast idle screw. turn it all the way in and then back it out about 3 1/2 to 4 turns. there should be another one over from that i can't seem to figure out how many turns that one takes but one the engine is running .. have someone keep it going and play with that one ... if you turn it clockwise it should rev the RPMs up and counter clock wise will make the engine sputter . try to make it about even as for now. if that works for now .. Kudos .. if not send me a email.. about this forum and i send ya a 1985 Manuel for a Toyota 2wd and remember this is a Aisan carb. that i got .. oh yea before i forget! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/s10.gif) there is a wierd flat have of a screw looking thing on the lower body of the carb on the passager side of the carb .. right below it is either a hole with a screw or a Flat surfacing circle ... if it is a hole with a screw ... someone has tampered with the carb before ... if not its a steel plug that leads to the mixture screw. and is at factory settings. Hope this helps ya ... I would refer you to buying a carb rebuild kit for it ... it teached me alot when i did it ... i felt retarted about carbs till i did it ... and if ya do ... be easy with the jet valves and stuff might not be exspensive to replace .. but they are really annoying .... and if ya do get one i will send ya the manuel because the directions they give you suck holy ***
