Hi,

I am retired Army, living in the Denver foothills (Evergreen) and trying to do basic maintenance on my Highlander. Some times I create more problems than I solve.

When changing the air filter on my Highlander I broke off a vacuum hose fitting going to the air cleaner case. It is the lowest hose going into the case and the hole into the case is very small. Not having it connected does not seem to effect the engine's performance nor does does the hose seem to show any vacuum regardless of engine speed.

I assume that this hose does something. Any information on the purpose and necessity of the hose would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you should fix it that is what controls the thermostatic air cleaner. It will affect the car a very small amount in cold weather, in some states it will cause the car to fail emissions testing if caught. also never let your rear bumper hide your plate no.
