I had a similar light come on my 1991 Toyota Landcruiser Prado (2LT) and it was an overboost on the turbo which is computer controlled so it would shut off the turbo and lose power. It turned out that my fuel filter was plugged. The computer detected the lose of power as an overboost and would cut power. I changed the fuel filter and it went away. Maybe check to see when the last fuel filter was installed.

That to me looks like the radiator may be low on coolant. Check the reservoir and check for leaks as well.

Slinky, it tells you that your radiator is low on fluid/coolant.

The warning light to the right means "Low oil".

There is a common problem with the Hiace engine, and probably other Toyota engines that have this oil level sensor.

Apparently what happens is the sensor gets full of sludge then jams in the "low" position. My Hiace has exactly this problem.
When I start the engine, the light goes out and stays out for about 3 minutes - then it comes on.

The solution is to remove the sensor, clean it out and refit it. The problem is it sits below the level of the oil so you can only do this when the oil is drained out of the engine.

cheers for that Hiace4x4 - makes total sense because i have done an oil change which i thought would rectify this but didnt.
i'll check out the sensor and clean it.

if you wouldn't mind helping with one more thing - how do i find the sensor?i'm not exactly 100% clued up on engines.

thanks heaps for you reply.

It's mounted on the sump. I'm not sure where on the sump as I have never got down under there to find out, but it will be a small
sensor type unit with a wire coming out of it, so shouldn't be too hard to locate.

Hi

New member here - I'm also getting that Acropolis-shaped warning light re the back-up reservoir

I'm not sure where the access point is for the back-up reservoir - can anyone tell me where I should be putting it in please?

I have no manual to refer to, so if anyone can direct me precisely that would be great - going on a long journey on Friday!

Many thanks

Wormhead

If you lift the front passenger's seat up (access to the engine compartment) you will soon see a white plastic reservoir mounted to one side of the engine bay.
That's the radiator overflow bottle.
However, if that particular lamp as talked about above is lit, it means the level of the fluid in the radiator itself is low, so you should top that up first.

Thanks. My light was coming on and off. I'll top up my radiator fluid tomorrow.
