Hello all, I drive a 09 Tacoma DC w/o the tow package. I added a class III aftermarket hitch assembly rated at 5000 lbs. I understand the max tow for my truck is 3500 lbs at the bumper. If I had purchased the truck w/ the factory tow package it would be 6500 lbs. Today, I visited a RV dealer and was shown in a towing guide that my capacity with the class III hitch is now up to 5000 lbs. I would still like to confirm what was shown in that guide. I'm considering a travel trailer that has a dry weight of 3070 lbs with a hitch weight of 239 lbs. I'm currently waiting a reply from Toyota on whether or not adding an aftermarket tranny cooler would void my warranty. Do any of you feel the 5000 lbs capacity quoted by the salesman is accurate? If so, does towing the mentioned trailer pose any damage to the tranny w/o the cooler? Any info/advise is greatly appreciated.
