My son was debating on whether or not to keep his Honda Civic that has about 150,000 miles on it now. He needs new tires and said that it's hard now to find good 13" tires, which is what his car has on it. He's considering getting new wheels and tires that are 14" or 15" for the Civic. Is that a good idea?

The little Corolla I used to have had 13 inch tires, and I never had any trouble finding replacements. Only had to replace them two or maybe three times in the ten years I had it. Don't know how a small car would handle bigger tires, but I guess if you feel like it's worth all that work and expense, you can always talk to a mechanic about it. I personally wouldn't go that far.

13" tires aren't that hard to find. Mini Coopers use them as well as a few other makes. I see them on Ebay as well as other places like Craigslist all the time.

Wow, that just seems so small. I wonder if they handle the road as well as bigger tires.

They should do fine on the road...as long as the car is in correct proportion. It's when there is a lag between the two that you get trouble.

13"? Hmmm... I think that is what size tires I put on my four-wheeler... LOL Just kidding but that does seem awfully small.. I guess I have 16" on my Durango though.. I don't know what the clearance is on that car but some just don't handle larger tires. I would think just a 14" wouldn't hurt though. I had a 2000 Taurus that had 15" on it...
