I have just purchased a 1988 2wd toyota pickup and love it. it drives really good and has alot of pickup and go. I have a problem with it and hope the members of this forum can help. It is hard to start. It will crank forever. But if you squirt a little starting fluid in the air cleaner, it starts right up. I have checked the timing and it is ok, the plugs are good and the wires are good. I am wondering if it is the fuel pump going out? How can I check it out to determine what is going bad?
