I just purchased a 1990 4runner for my son and know nothing about the vehicle. My first question is: does the back seat fold up flat and how do you do that? I found the latch at the top of the seats but that only folded the split seats part way.

I will also have to find a new drivers side front seat and drivers side front panel... any suggestions on where to source the parts.. and the back windrow will only go up 3/4 of the way

I live in BC

tks

Hi Kamburt. I'm originally from Trail !!

The back cusions have to be pulled up first (they are hinged) before you can fold the back forward. Reach into the seam and find the strap on each of the 2 seats. Pull up.

Get your '90 parts from a salvage yard. They're in the yellow pages. If you need external body parts however, likely a salvage yard won't have them because all '90's in BC are rusted. I have a link at home for a California yard....good parts....not rusted.

The best way to get ahold of me is us the PM feature of the forums...and I can send you their link.

The window in the back will require you to remove the regulator. A very common failure for the age of your Toyota. The same salvage yard will have one...brand new you're looking at about $300. Before you tear it out....just check to see if the window is not binding on the door guides. I bought a brand new door and it was ever so slightly bowed in (some big fat guy down south must have sat on the tail gate....hahahahahah).

It's all repairable.

About the 1990 sr5 4 runner:

-Pull the back of the bottom seat up first, then pull the upright seat lever and lower them to the floor.
Should work!

-Call around to junk yards for replacement parts!

-AS Far As the back window< I had to have a new gear pin made for the drive motor 50.00, has worked for 5 years. You might want to take the back cover off the folding door and check all lubrication on the rollers the attach to the window. Also use silicon in the window jam to clean window tracking. This window drive motor gets weaker and needs help with lube.
