My friend picked up a 1990 tercel for a few hundred bucks. The car will not start. I replaced the battery and the alternator and everytime i go to turn the key the EFI fuse under the hood pops. I am not sure where i should start looking for fixes. If anyone has any ideas suggestions. I just want to get the car started.
The owner of the car told me that all it needed was a new alternator and battery, but i guess there was more to all that. I was thinking bad ignition or starter. Please Help!!

if it is a manual shift....I would try push starting it. Otherwise I think you have a short in the ignition switch.

It would seem as if the battery is overloading the starter? If thats even possible, there might be a power distribution problem which could explain the popping fuse..

It may be the carburetor and I've also heard of problems with the ignition module (over 200 dollars at Advance Auto Parts and has to be ordered), but from what I've read, it's most likely a carb problem.
