it has had this problem for a while and it is annoying. i undid this black screw deal with a spring on it and it was running fine pulling in a bunch of air, but i put the screw deal thing in and it idles up and down. this only happens when it is warm though, like it confused. if anybody knows what this could be please give me some advice.

You need to get the idle set with the set screw on top of the plenum. It should idle around 800 rpm, You set the idle up valve that mainly works when the air is on. These two will fight each other causing the up and down idle. Also make sure the timing is not advanced too far, this will also contribute to the problem. Set timing first following procedure with timing light 5 degrees btdc then set idle screw on plenum, then set idleup valve (screw with spring) with the air turned on or if the air does not work, turn on every thing in the vehicle and then set it.
