Hi, this is my first post here, and I hope to figure out whats wrong with my 4runner before school starts.

Ok, here's the situation.

I bought it used out-of-state with 185K miles on it. Within a week of having it, it dies and I get it repaired, supposedly what was wrong with it was Distributor cap couldn't deliver spark, Spark plug wires were deteriorated(still, the distributor cap wouldn't be able to distribute spark even if the spark plugs were fine), and I don't know why, but supposedly they put in a new fuel pump(this was done by a trusted name in Toyota Dealership and Repair).

That was about 3 months ago. Now, a new problem rears its ugly head. About one month ago, it started dying in the midst of driving, I'd pull it over, and it would start right back up. This went on, and it kept getting more and more common, and harder and harder to start. Sometime in the past two weeks, it started dying consistently, this meaning it would start, you would have time to drive maybe around a quarter-mile down the road before it would die again. A week ago, it died, and would not start again.

When I made attempts to start it, it would turn and want to start, but it wouldn't. I've tried pressing down on the gas pedal when I start it to get some fuel in the system(if that is in fact what it does, I know next to nothing about automotive repair), and to no avail, it would not start. I've heard from my uncle, that this could possibly be something called a Crank Sensor. I finally got it hauled down to a mechanic and he said that it was not getting any fuel pressure on one side of the line that transports the fuel from the tank to the carborator(whatever the fuel first goes to, I think thats what it is). This mechanic has seldom worked on Toyotas because they are next to non-existent in the area I live, so I'm on the internet to try and help him out.

So my question is, What could possibly be stopping/preventing the fuel pump from getting fuel up to the carborator? Or could it possibly be something else having an effect on that seeing on how I had a new fuel pump replaced recently?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
