Hi All,

Newbie here.

I've got a 1992 Tercel 2 door with a 4 speed manual transmission. The car just turned 110K. Just today the transmission started to pop out in 4th gear, mostly on the highway. It stays in gear if you keep your hand on the shifter.

I like to try to fix things myself, but diagnosis is not my forte.

Is there anyone out there who can help.

Thanks!!!

My ex boyfriend does this sometimes to keep face I guess... he'll be trying to fix something hiself but can't quite pinpoint the problem and he'll go to the auto parts place and ask around.... about a part like I need the thing
when your car does this or that.... and the guy usually guesses the problem... for him like do you mean this is out?

thats actually a pretty common problem, you'll have to get a new set of bearings. You have to take the tranny apart, while your in there replace the syncronizers

Same thing happened to me when I had a 5 spd. in my 91 tercel. It would pop out of 4th all the time, but I had a 4spd on hand to swap it with.
