I just got a 1993 Toyota Pickup 4x4, and I am not familiar with the way the 4x4 works. It seems that when I engage the 4 wheel drive it spins the easier axel, whether that be the front or rear, what is causing this and how can it be fixed?

When in four wheel drive with the hubs locked, when going through mud the easier side of the axel gets all of the power, therefore rendering the truck useless off-road. I am guessing this truck does not have locking differentials.

Nope, no locker. Up until the mid '90s, Toyota used open differentials. You could buy an aftermarket air locker or an electronic locker if you want.

Yep. totally normal. You need lockers or posi-traction for it to stop doing that.
