I just purchased a 1993 land cruiser with 180,000 miles on it. I noticed, that when I switch transmission in any of drive positions it makes smooth hissing sound which disappears when gear is in neutral or park position. Is it normal? Also, when I start to move vehicle from the stop position I can here some king of gurgling-grinding metallic noise which lasts only 5 seconds and then as soon as car picks up speed it is completely gone and driving is normal. What is it? My e-mail address is juneof51@yahoo.com, tel 608-432-2227 Please help with answers. thank you Sergei

Thanks posting your phone number. New to the internet?

Is this a manual transmission? I had the same issue on my truck. Turn out a bearing had eaten it's cage.
