Newbie here. I have a corolla with 84,000 miles, year old battery, 1.6liter, automatic
The car won't start, headlights turn on. I get a click when I try to turn it over. I'm in southern California so weather isn't an issue. I think it might be the starter, can anyone confirm it? If so, what am I looking at to fix it?
Thanks in advance for your help. I fix computers, if it were one, i would have already fixed it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

It sounds like a starter to me.

They can be rebuilt for about $50. Toyota has rebuild kits available.
It's well worth the effort to rebuild it. No special tools required that aren't easily available. Get a Haynes or Chilton manual and a case of beer (1/2 case if it's Canadian beer....eh?)

Thanks for the help, looks like it's time for a new starter then although I notice it occurs when it's cold (relative to southern california)

If it clicks thats the solinoid engaging the starter. Id say your battery is low. Try jumping it first. If thats not it then check the starter. When your unsure of the problem always start at the easiest thing to check first, usually thats the problem.
