Hey folks ! I'm told this is somewhat of a common problem with older Tacoma's (240,000). Most of the time the vibration can be felt in the seat as the seats literally shake but there's also a vibration in the steering but it's neither are consistent. At 65 mph, cruise control on, vibration begins but then it will stop on it's own, only to start again seconds later. I've had it looked at by my local Toyota Mechanic and he replaced the Rack/Pinion because of the bushings being worn and having play; nothing changed with the vibration. A friend of mine told me that I might want to have the hubs checked as the hub bearings have been known to go bad ? Also, I've had the front-end, brakes, drive-train, u-joints, rear diff. all checked and the only thing found was a slight vibration in the diff. but the mechanic told me he didn't believe all that vibration could be coming from that small of a source. Maybe you folks can put me on the right track. I'm hoping. My plan is to make this truck a 1 million miler so I like to keep things tight if possible. Thanks.
