I've been having a problem starting my Avalon over the last several weeks. Sometimes the car starts right off. Sometimes it tries to start for a split second and then NOTHING. Sometimes I turn the key and NOTHING happens, I don't even think there is a click. However, if I just keep turning the key from off to on then the car will eventually start like nothing was wrong.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Sounds like it may be the ignition switch.

When was the last time the battery was changed? Your starter or starter contacts may need some servicing too.

Check your battery connections, too. You may have a loose connection or they may be corroded. It's fairly easy to fix and can cause that problem.

I had this problem. I'd go someplace, like to drop off books at the library. Come back 2 minutes later and nothing would happen. IfI kept doing it or wiggled the battery cables, I could eventually get it.

Turns out that corrosion had gotten doen into the battery cables and they were iffy on putting out enough juice. $30 later the mechanic had me fixed right up!

This sound like the problem I am haveing. I have no idea what the problem is. I thing is is an relay. Cus if I leave the car in the on position long enough. It will act as if it wants to start. Then after a few tries it will crank.
