Had problem a couple years ago (big proscrastinator!) where window would not raise back up. Motor would make its usual sounds. Have had door switch disconnected during this time but need to get window serviced. Sounds like problem might be regulator. How hard is it to replace? With panel removed I tried looking for problem and one of my issues was that door frame was stamped in such a way that openings were small and hard to get hands/arms/tools into.

Welcome to working on doors! Unfortunately, manufacturers design them for one time installation only, not with service in mind. Watch your hands; those edges are sharp. You need to disconnect the track from the window. Lower the window down until you see the bolts holding the glass in, near the bottom rear of the door. Place a rag on the window to prevent scratching. Remove the bolts and pull the glass up. Disconnect the electrical connector. Mark the location of the rear bolt of the upper glide. (scissor-type assembly)Then you can unbolt the lower glide and can unbolt and remove the regulator. Check the regulator by plugging it in and seeing if it operates in bolth directions. I doubt if it is. I would suggest you buy a used regulator before you even begin the disassembly. That way it's a quick remove and replace job. Good luck. Hy

I've nto yet tackled this one. Getting my motorized driver seat was #1.

It sounds like whatever I do will require replacing the regulator so I might as well begin shopping for one of those on-line soon.

I plan to wrap some duct tape along the edges of the metal so I don't wind up slicing my arms or hands up when trying this next great adventure.

Oh I long for the days of hand cranked windows!

Good idea with the duct tape. Those hand cranked windows had the same problems with regulators and sharp edges. And years ago, the windows were held into the lower channels by either shear pressure or some double sided tape! After a few years of use, the glass would come loose from the lower channel and track and get stuck, or even break. No fun either way! Good luck. Hy

Remove the bolts and pull the glass up.

Am I supposed to remove the glass from the door entirely? Or can the regulator be removed with the glass still in the door?

I got as far as removing the bolts holding the window onto the regulator but can't remove the window because the rubber seal is in the way.

I didn't want to try removing the seal because it goes down into the door and I'm not sure I could get it reattached.

Thanks!
