Hello all. I'm a new member and have a cruise control question. I bought a used 2001 Tacoma, 4x4, V6 Automatic. The cruise control doesn't work. When I turn on the cruise, the light on the dash goes on, but when I press SET, nothing happens. I don't get any "blinking" of the cruise light to indicate an error code has been set. When I short out E1 and Tc on DLC1 the cruise light/indicator says the cruise control is "Normal". I've done volt-meter testing of inputs to the ECU - SET, RES, CANCEL, shifter in Drive versus others, Brake - all these signals appear correct at the ECU. I've confirmed that the cruise control cable is not broken. So it looks to me like I either have a bad ECU, or bad Actuator motor/electronics. I would appreciate any advise on other things I should check. Does anyone know how I can test the ECU or the actuator? Of course both of these are quite pricey, so simply swapping them out isn't an option to me.
Thanks - Mark.
