Hello,
I am trying to figure out what this humming could be coming from. The humming is a medium to medium/high pitch sound that is definitely noticeable inside and outside of the car. It occurs at an RPM level around 1600-1800. The noise will stop as soon as I let off the gas. It does it in neutral and with the transmission engaged (so I do not think it is the transmission). It occurs in the back of the car and is equal in loudness between the right and left rear tires (maybe a little louder on the left side). I took it to discount auto and put it on the meter and it gives me codes of P0441 and P0446 (which deal with the emissions). Any thoughts???

I wanted to add some more info to the original post. The noise does not occur when I start the car; the car has to run for about 10 minutes before it starts. Also the noise seems to occur more often when it is humid or raining outside. I took my back seat out b/c the fuel pump is located under the seat (there is a trap door there to replace it). I wanted to see if the noise inside the car would increase. I did not notice a great increase in noise inside the car. However, from inside the car it seems to be coming from the rear passenger area. I crawled under the car and had my wife accelerate the car (in neutral of course) and with a glove I grabbed the exhaust to see if I shook it or pushed it if the noise would stop…this did nothing for the sound. How could I check to see if my exhaust is clogged, or what other things could be causing it?
