I was wondering if anyone has ever changed the rotors on a 2002 Sienna before and if there is anything that I need to be aware of. I am fairly good at car repairs but in no way do it for a living.

I assume you already replaced the rotors, if not it is very straight forward. My 2005 wore the rotors out before the pads. The rotors are held on by the wheels. They tend to have a little rust around where they slip over the hub. Pull the caliber first and use something to hold it up. Buy a wheel puller and there are two holes in the rotor for the bolts. With a little pressure the rotor will pop off. I got new ones at O-Riley's, not very expensive. Pads and rotors were about $100. Use a clamp and push the puck back into the caliber and istall the new pads. Install one lug nut to hold rotor inplace. Drop the caliber inplace and bolt back on. Put the wheel back on and your done.

Hello,

I or rather my wife has the Sienna 05 LE 2WD. With more people piling into the car and more cargo being carried on our road trips, the breaks seem inadequate to me. Any thoughts on upgrading the rotors and pads to something better? I've been reading online on drilled and slotted rotors. Any thoughts on this and brand or rotor?

Thanks

What did you finally go with? I saw the ATE PremiumOne Slotted Rotor's on TireRack as well as the Hawk Performance Ceramic Pads. I'v been eying this setup. I have come to appreciate what performance pads can do. My rotors are warped badly so I need new rotors. Since I'll be doing the work myself I don't mind putting a bit higher end components on.

I used the ceramic pads with the stock rotors and noticed a significant improvement over the stock pads.
