Just had my 5 speed trans go in my 2003 Corolla. I was on the phone with Toyota for days to see if they wood pick up a part of the bill, but got no satisfaction. They said they would give me a $1000 deduction off a new or used toyota car. What a big deal that was. I said how about taking the $1000 off the cost of my repair which was $3300 for a new trans and clutch assembly at toyota. The only satisfaction I got was they wanted me to get a complete diognostic evaluation from the dealer why the and what parts failed in the tranny? Very Very disapointed with toyota on this matter. I use this car to go back and forth to work and that is 100 miles round trip and it is all highway miles. I bought this car new and am the only driver. I drive Tractor Trailers for a living, with 12 forward speeds so they can't tell me it could be the driver. There is a Design floor in this tranny and possible defected parts or substanded parts. This trans should have never gone bad and I think Toyota knows it. Going to get all old parts from the tranny after the new one is installed and the report from the dealer will post the results when avilable. VinnyC

The car is 5 years old, did you honestly think Toyota would pay to replace your tranny? Get real! Until you know exactly what failed, you cant say that it was a design flaw.
Sounds to me its more like you are upset that Toyota wont pay to fix your 5-year old car. If the car were 3 years old or less, I could see your point; but if you drive 100 miles a day back and forth to work and the car is 5 years old, Id call that just normal wear 'n tear.
Just because some people have Toyotas that go 200,000+ miles with no issues, that doesnt mean that Toyota guarentees each and every vehicle they make will do the same.
