The tire pressure indicator light on my 2004 4 Runner remains on steady after having checked tire inflation including spare, rotated tires and even tried deflatig and re-inflating tire to the correct pressure. Can anyone tell me how to reset the light on the 2004 4runner. I can'ty seem to find the reset button.

The system uses five transmitters (each one of them is battery operated and is part of the inflation valve) and a dedicated receiver/ECU. The only way to access the TroubleShooting mode is through the OBD and a Toyota proprietary diagnostics tester. This is a warranty item, best bet is to take it to the dealer. They have the equipment to quickly and conveniently TS the problem.

Check the owner's manual. When we had a low tire on the van, the light kept coming back on even when we would fill it and eventally after we had it patched. It turned out that you had to push and repush the odometer button (while it was flashing check tires) and then it was fine.

Are you sure the sensors are battery powered???

Makes sense to me since a RF signal is involved. I asked my dealer about this and got a no. I supposedly have 2 bad sensors. ($389 + tax to replace and reprogram) I asked about sensor battery because I run my '04 4Runner extensively (4 - 6 weeks at a time, 2 - 3 times a year) off road at low tire pressure with the low pressure light on steady. Hence my thought was I'm depleting any battery in the sensor. If that is the case then replacing sensors is dumb in my situation and better to live with the light on.

Any feedback appreciated

Wally1 et al

Ignore my post about battery. Question by dealer went to Toyota as whether there was a battery that could be replaced, so that is why the no answer.

I confirmed thru dealer there is a battery and Toyota says my extended running at low pressure might reduce batt life from maybe 10 yrs down to 8 yrs.
