I have a Sequoia (04) Limited that I service religiously at the dealership. I have two local dealerships that I use depending on which area I will be in when the truck needs service. The truck now has 68K on it. I brought it in today for a full service, 60K, and I got a call that my water pump was leaking from the weep hole and that the tech said it should be replaced along with the timing belt. Now, I should mention that I was a service advisor for 5 years and service mgr for 3 for Mitsubishi so I am not a complete ***** when it comes to my car. I still however have advisors trying to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge because I'm a girl until they listen to me talk cars. I have been out of the business for nearly 5 years now. I guess my question is this, are the Sequoias know to have water pump problems? It sounded like a total sales pitch when they called me and I politely declined the repairs and insisted that my repair order state that they found my water pump leaking. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never noticed any leak from this vehicle nor have I ever been told before that it was leaking. Anyone have any experience with this? Please post. I have also had a terrible creak in my steering column since they replaced the ball joints under recall 20,000 miles ago. They love to tell me that they can't duplicate the problem and don't find anything, I tell them about it everytime I change the oil. Because of this I am reluctant to give them the $775.00 they want to replace the water pump and timing belt and I'm starting to have very little faith in this dealer. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
