Hi All,

The air con on my 2004 Sienna XLE failed as I was leaving Lake Havasu in 115 degree weather right before a six hour drive. I brought the car to my Toyota dealer and asked them about the Service Advisory, and was told that Toyota had doubled the warranty period for the AC from the standard 36K miles to 72K miles. Unfortunately my car had 89K miles, so it was not covered under this extended period. I *did*, however, have the Platinum extended warranty, which covered the entire $3500 repair plus rental car, but otherwise I would have been out of luck.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that Toyota had extended the AC coverage to 72K.

I have a 2006 Sienna CE...bought brand new in '05. Currently it has 45K miles and the compressor, clutch, and belt all need to be replaced! Estimated cost to repair is at least $1436, but could be as much as $1789 if the aftermarket compressor is not a good fit. I have always owned Toyota, but I've never had a major system breakdown under 100K miles. Not acceptable in my book. Sounds like Toyota dropped the ball here.

christine, thanks for the heads-up! How did you find out about about the AC coverage being extended to 72K mi? My local dealer couldn't confirm it.
Thanks!

Same problem over here, long story short: GEICO mechanical breakdown option on my Insurance policy will cover all for $250.00 out of the pocket. Just less than 4,000 miles after 60,000 miles extended warranty period time. Good for me... but everything can be a lot less if Toyota were more proactive like the TSB related to this AC failure risk out on 2005 not converted in to a RECALL or at least let us know where and when to apply it.
