I am new to the forum. I have a 2004 Toyota Sienna Limited XLE with AWD. The vehicle has 84k miles, thus out of warranty. Recently the driver side door began to make very loud sounds when attempting to open/close the door. We have taken the vehicle to our Toyota dealership. The dealership informed us that the inside of the door is broken and is in need of a spot weld. The dealership is currently in the process of talking with Toyota to see what can be done as our vehicle is out of warranty. I am curious if other owners have encountered this same issue? In addition, we believe Toyota should "own up" to the issue and fix regardless if out of warranty. The vehicle is only 5 years old and the door is broken. I appreciate any advice or comments from others familiar with this same problem.

I recieved a warranty extension notice from Toyota on this problem. Basically is states that Toyota has recieved reports that some 2004 to 2007 model year Sienna vehicles may exhibit a popping noise when opening or closing the front doors. The spot welds may have failed, etc. We have now extended your coverage on this issue from 3/36k to 5 years, 100k from the vehicles in service date.

Depending on when you Sienna went into service you might be covered...
