my 2005 camry trunk release lever doesnot work. I can still use my key to open it remotely.
Who knows the reason.
Is it caused by burn of fuse? what the name of the fuse?

Thanks

The trunk release is mechanical, not electric. Probable cause of it not working is that the cable to the trunk latch has broken and needs to be replaced. If you want instructions, post, and I'll give them. They're in the Haynes repair manual. Hy.

I would say the cable came unhooked either at the trunk latch or at the handle. Try locating the cable at both ends, check to make sure it did'nt come unhooked.

Unfortunately, you can't usually re-attach the little ball. You have to replace the cable. The cable, if I remember correctly, comes only as part of a kit which includes the trunk cable and housing and the gas door cable and housing. Check with Toyota. Meanwhile, I'll look up the replacement procedure and try to post it here tomorrow. Hy

I have my service manual for my Solara in the car. I'll get it tomorrow and post the directions for replacing the cables. I would also suggest you pick up a manual; it isn't expensive, comes in handy, and is available at most auto parts stores. Mine is put out by Haynes. Anyway, I'll post tomorrow. Hy

I have the Haynes manual in front of me. These are the instructions the manual gives for replacing the trunk release and/or gas door release cables: The fuel door and trunk release cables are bundled and are removed/installed together. Remove the trunk lid trim panel (by removing the plastic fasteners around it's edge). Scribe a line around the trunk lid latch assembly for a reference point to aid the installation procedure. Detach the two retaining bolts and remove the latch. Remove the end release cable and/or actuator rod from the latch. (Installation is the reverse of removal.) Inside the trunk, remove the floor mat and left side panel for access to the fuel door cable end. Push in the tabs of the fuel door latch cable end (white plastic part) and pull it from the fuel door housing. To remove the cable end retainer (black plastic) twist it out of the bracket. Remove the rear seat bottom (by pushing in on the bootom edge and lifting upwards) On coupe models both seat backs and bottom must be removed. Pry up the driver's side door sill cover(s). On 4-door models, remove the center door pillar's lower trim panel. Peel back the carpeting to access the release cable. Open all the clips holding the cable to the body. Remove the bolt holding the release handle assembly to the floor. Turn the housing over and remove the cable housings from the clips and the eyes of the levers. Attach a piece of thin wire to the end of the cable. Working in the trunk compartment, pull the cable towards the rear of the vehicle until you can see the wire. Attach the wire to the front of the new cable and fish it back through the body until it can be attached to the lever. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of the removal. It sounds complicated, but it really isn't. You just have to take your time and it should work. Hope this helps all you guys and girls who need to replace one or both of the cables. Good luck. Hy.
