I have a 2008 Highlander Sport and its going into service Tuesday for a annoying rattle in the front passenger side dash board where the side air bad plastic meets the speaker grill. I also have something in the back that bangs around. I have taken everything out of the back, all the tire changing tools and luggage cover and put the third row up and none of it was the culprit. Does anyone else have any of these issues with an 08?

I don't know about the rattle in the front, but I have a 2004 Highlander which annoyed the tar out of me. It was on the right-hand side and it sounded like it was coming from the rear. The mechs could hear it, but they couldn't find it. It took me a long time before I realized that it was the passenger (front) seat belt clip rattling against the B pillar. Reach over and give it a twist to flatten out the seat belt (so that it hangs without a twist at the top) and see if that works. Worked for me-and I'm out of tar, too; I hope that helps.

I have a strange rattling sound too in my 2008 Highlander. It is coming from the front side around the area of the side air bag. I have noticed it on both the driver and passenger side. It is not there all the time. When it is there it sounds like a clicking noise, kind of like morse code. I am not sure if tempreture has anything to do with it as this morning it was 3 degrees and there was no sound, later in the day it was 11 degrees and I heard the sound. If you find out what it is after taking it to the dealer please let me know.

Hi,
I have the same problem. Took it to the dealer. They removed the entire dash. They said a loose antenna wire was touching the dash cabinet and was making the noise and fixed it. But, the noise came back when I was driving back home from the dealership. It is driving me nuts.
