Hi folks, I know its a bit early to be looking for this but I just bought a 2009 Corolla and was looking for cosmetic mods such as Gold emblems, scuff plates and dash kits. I have a RHD 1.5 litre 2009 Corolla. I also noticed in some of the pics on the net that a certain 2009 Corolla comes with paddle shifters. Does anyone know which model it is?

The Japan model offers paddle shifters, but not available on non-Japan versions. The Japan version also
has lots more HP (like 230+) and torque and a six-speed manual. It has much hotter cams and higher
compression but requires premium fuel and uses much more of it. Sounds like a neat car, but not what
I was after. I like being able to use regular unleaded and getting 30+ MPG and having an automatic.
If I want to go fast I drive my '95 Mustang Cobra R-model (570+ HP normally aspirated, T-56 6-spd).
Let's just say that these days the '09 Corolla XRS makes a much more reasonable daily driver 8^).

I also , am looking for some Performance add-ons for my 09 XRS. A Cold air Intake and maybe a better CatBack Exhaust system would enhance this vehicle and maybe increase the horsepower, as well as be more efficient in th gas mileage area to. Anybody know of anything becoming available for these 09 XRS's please post your information.

Okay guy's! You can now buy For Your 2009 Toyota Corolla XRS a Brand New K&N Panel Filter to replace the Factory Denso Paper Air Filter in your Factory Air Box with the K&N Part Number 33-2326 and the cost is about $35 at any local Advanced Auto Parts Store near you. I got mine today and am expecting to have some Performance and Gas Mileage Results by weeks end. Will post my results as I can make them.

Hope this helps, as you can also replace the Factory Oil Filter with a K&N HP1003 Filter for about $12 at your local Advanced Auto Parts as well.

I am also looking for a cold air intake system for the 2.4 XRS Corolla. Do you think it would be the same fit at the matrix? or is the bumper opening in a different spot?

If you start emailing AEM and K&N, put some pressure on them, its going to be a popular car for this particular mod.

My xrs will be getting a new exhaust system this weekend. (not too loud) but i find the new XRS too quiet when i dont want it to be... and really quiet when i want it to be!

Unfortunately this is incorrect ... or at least in my case it is. I just purchased a 2009 Corolla XLE and whenever I get a new vehicle the first thing I normally do is replace the Air Filter with a K&N. Unfortunately, the K&N 33-2360 is not the correct filter for my Corolla and the filter in my Corolla is shaped like the K&N 33-2326. I don't know if Toyota would have built the 2009 Corolla with two different air filter configurations, but I would doubt that they would. I am just glad that I looked in here as I didn't know of the 33-2326 and now I can go buy one for my new Car!!

Hi all,

As an older guy with a significant number of years and miles under my belt I would strongly advise against using a K&N or any other gauze type air filter on any car you care about. I installed a K&N factory pre-oiled air filter on my '95 Mustang Cobra R-model after I changed it over to carburation. In order to fix a small water leak about 1000 miles later I took the air cleaner off and was shocked and disgusted at just how filthy the INSIDE of my carb was (an 835 CFM Holley 4150HP Race double-pumper which 1000 miles earlier was brand new). The air horn, venturis, and boosters were covered with a significant layer of gritty dirt. When it all went back together I cleaned the carb and bought a Baldwin brand paper filter which for the last 4,000 miles has kept the inside of my carb spotlessly clean. Dirt entering anywhere into your engine is bad. Dirt entering through your intake is the absolutely worst place for it to happen. I have over $30K invested just in my engine (over $140K in the entire car) and I will not use a K&N air filter on it. K&N has very good marketing and they actually do make very good oil filters, which very few people know about. There are some very professionally done air filter test results available on the web for your reading enjoyment. I suggest doing a little googling to find them and read them for yourself, please feel free to not take my advice and do your own research. Cold air intakes are great only if the filter they provide really filters the air.

YMMV

Perry
