I have seen a few forums in other website that they many folks are reporting of a steering problem at expressway speeds. The steering wheel is almost takes over and steers to the right or left. It's like the knight rider KIT car. It might be related to the resetting or rebooting of the EPS steering (computer) while traveling at about 60 mph. Would like to know of any of you have also experience the same problem. Toyota service has checked the alignment and everything show fine.

Thanks,
TW

Just an added note. They are 24 other government complaints on the safecar.gov website. I have added mine. I hope when the Toyota Rep visits my car on Friday that he will fix or just give me another car. Since 3 others that I test drove were fine.

Hello I am new to this. I am having the SAME problem with my steering. The dealer thinks I am crazy. But seeing your forum make me think I have a little brains. I start up on the expressway and my car in no wind is moving all over the road. I almost hit another car. The steering system jerked to the left by itself. The dealer says they have got many complaints on this. Is there any fix? I love my car but not the steering.

The best thing to do is go to safercar.gov and submit a complaint. If you review the complaints there are many other with a steering problem on the 2009 Corolla.

I wreck my New 2009 Toyota Corolla.Toyota finds nothing wrong with frame or supports. They said it was me that caused me to turn into the left lane.I said it was the car pulling.Austin police took pictures and show my steering wheel was "turned" as far as it could go.Before it happened I heard a buzzing between my legs on the steering wheel.I thought it was a garbage disposer turning on.

Steering problem connected to gas problem?

I don't think it's hardware. I think it's a logic issue. I feel when a program meets with instructions it effects my steering but could be the gas pedal moving by itself when in set in cruise conrtol mode (but not away). I gave up when the dealer told me they found nothing wrong. The stress was to much to handle so I just deal with it. It would be nice if Toyota dealer would have giving me my money back and give me a toyota prius.
