I have a 22R-e in my 94 pickup right now, and was wondering if putting on turbocharger on would be a huge pain in the rear. I know they made the 22R-eT, but wanted to put on myself. Has anyone does this before. I know you have to do some work, but is it too much of a pain?

By the way you phrased your question, I'd say it's waay too much for you.
It's a lot more than "some work".

i know its a lot of work, getting a new manifold, rerouting the intake, drilling for oil passages, but i mean, would I have to get a new transmission and would the horsepower potential be worth it. I just want the truck to have some more power and was lookin at the turbo for a potential project.

They sell turbo and blower kits for the 22R.

Also keep in mind, if you do it yourself, you will have to reprogram the computer to dump more fuel into the engine when at full boost.

The 22RTE has a stronger block, forged pistons, different cam, larger injectors, etc.
It was designed to be turbo'd.
Using a stock 22RE you'd have to keep the boost low to avoid destroying the engine.
Having to limit the power kind of defeats the purpose spending all the time and $$ to increase the power.
