Hey guys new to toyotafans forum hoping you guys can help me out. lets start with the basics. I have a 85 pickup with 22r. roughly 235000 miles. i bought it recently and knew it needed the timing set. prior to replacing them the chain made racket at all RPMS slapping the timing cover. luckly it didnt go completely through the cover so no coolant has gotten into the oil. so ive replaced the timing set with new metal guides cause the plastic ones were broke...i also got a new timing cover because i dont like the thought of having a scratched up one on the toy. i went ahead and replaced the oil pump and water pump. new gaskets, a bunch of rtv to go with it, removed the oil pan to get all the plastic pieces that were in there, patched it all up, got lucky and had the timing dead on from the getgo when it was back together. before i "ran" the engine, i primed the oil pump by leaving the coil wire off and turning the engine for roughly 30 seconds. with the coil hooked up, the engine started like before, no problems. it ran quiet unlike before and i kept filling the coolant till i couldnt get any more in it. I put 5 quarts of oil in it, 1 gallon of straight antifreeze, 2/3 gallon of water. the timing chain and sprockets were lined up perfectly. HERES MY CURRNET DELEMA>>>>> so i let the truck run and run and run to get the temp gauge to rise and it didnt. I took it down the block and brought it back and it ran great with good power no hesitation.. but when i got to the garage it started making a hellaious racket again.... sounded like the water pump. but i wasnt sure. the temp gauge worked before about mid way all the time prior to this rebuild. now it wouldnt move. plus the heater was Hot like it should be. it didnt make sense. the engine was extremely hot to the touch i thought too. i went ahead and removed the thermostat and checked it and it moved and wasnt stuck like i thought it might be. took the belt off and the engine didnt make racket with the accessories disconnected. put the belt back on and i got a 'slight' move of the temp guage this time but still the racket after a little while of running. is it a faulty oil pump or water pump or did i screw something up during reassymbly of the timing cover and componets?
