Hi my name is Viktor and I am new to this form. I have a 1989 toyota helux 4x4 with the 22re 5 speed. I have a problem with the cold starts, because the rpm is at about 2200. and once the truck is worm it runs perfect. But here in canada we get realy cold in the winter and I'm a little concerned that the rpm is way to high for cold weather. Any ideas how to turn this down. or replace the cold start injector would be appreaceated. Thanks

I had the same exact problem with my truck 93 pu 22re. Its the idle air control valve(IACV) on the bottom of the throttle body. Remove the throttle body. You will be able to identify the IACV there is two rubber hoses that lets anti freeze flow threw it. You dont have to take the IACV off the throttle body.On the side of the IACV you will see a small plate with 4 screws holding it on under there you will find the adjuster. What I found out once I took it apart 2100 rpm's is about as far out of adjustment as it can be. So i had to take the throttle body off 8 time before I got it right. Once you get that cover off you will see the adjuster it has two slots on it. Spray it good with WD40 real good. It was really hard to move so I wound up backing it all the way out to clean the threads on it. I used two small flat screw drivers. Try to count how many turns it took to get it out so once your done cleaning you can put it close to were it was. Now from what I gathered a complete turn of this adjuster changes the cold idle about 200 RPM's but you are so far out adjustment at 2100 RPM's you you will need to turn it in a good amount till you get close and then fine tune it. Also you will need a new throttle body gasket if you tear it. And the gasket for the cover on the IACV I made a new one with gasket paper. Now my truck cold idle is about 1500 RPM's and within 4-5 munutes its al normal idle. I hope this helps you. I searched for a while with problem and didn't find anything so I just jumped in and figured it out for myself.
