i recently had to streight wire my fuel pump to the battery and put a switch inside, i dont like having to cut it on and off manually, where could i run my power wire to (an accessory) that is only active when the car is running?

or an effective accessory that i could run to that is only on if the ignition is on (if thats my only other option)

Your best option is to fix the existing wiring. The pump should not be running when the engine is not running. It's a safety feature so that if you roll the truck or get into a crash, the pump will not pump fuel onto a hot engine and start a massive fire. The Toyota service manual has a full wiring diagram that will help you fix it.

Next to that, and this should be your last hope option, is to wire the pump into some wire (possibly using a relay) so that it only runs when the switch is on, along with an oil pressure switch, so that it will only run with the key on and the engine running. That is the only safe way to do it.

thanks for the reply, ive been driving it for about 6 years, and unfortunately it's always been rigged to when the ignition was on, the fuel pump was on. When it quit working i ran a new wire from the battery to the fuel pump, and it worked, so i wired it to a toggle switch and have been using it like that until time prevailed and i could fix it.

Where would the correct wire be for the fuel pump if i wanted to wire it in its original route?

There's a switch that turns the pump on when the engine is running or turning over. It's in the AFM Air flow meter. To bypass stock wiring I would find which wires on the AFM plug go to this switch and jump to them. The switch goes on when the flap of the AFM moves open.

In your engine compartment the fuse box near the battery has the correct junction to put that wire on instead of your battery that bypasses the fuel pump wireing harness on my 92 it is the very first slot nearest the passenger side fender. If you were to look straight at your box from the battery in the front it is the first connection to the left it should already have a wire in it hook up a male adapter and there you go.
