Hi,

I have a 3 way electrolux fridge in my 1998 hiace camper, it seems to work off the battery, when the car is running.

I just cant get it running off gas. I have the gas hooked up, and then for some strange reason, i have to start the engine to get the spark going, which I am told is normal, is it? But then all I hear is clicking, and I am holding down the min/max dial and cant see anything happening in the little glass bt where you are meant to see the flame.

Sorry if your not meant to post this kind of stuff here, but any help would be great :)

Thanks

I would get rid of this fridge as soon as possible.

These 3 way fridges use ammonia as their refrigerant, and as you may know, ammonia is a deadly gas. There have been instances of the fridges developing leaks and ... well, you get the idea.

There are some very good 12V compressor style fridges on the market that use R134a non-CFC gas - very safe, environment-friendly etc.

All you need is a very large battery to run it off and a solar panel on the roof to help keep the battery charged.
In addition you can buy an electronic battery 'isolator' that connects the fridge battery to the vehicle's charging system when the engine is running and disconnects it when you are stopped.
