Hi All,
I have Generation 6 Celica (ST203) with 4WS - a very rare model for that generation - to the extent that garages who actually carry out the tracking for imports have no clue how to track this car and don't have the tracking information on their disks either. I have had it tracked twice now and it still steers to the right. This has started since I lowered it (by 40mm). I have done some checks, i.e after a full steering lock depressing the 2WS button and putting into reverse steers the rears straight. Sports button works as well, as the rears counter steer all the time. normal mode is fine. nothing wrong there so far in motors *touch wood*. From what I have read, the 4WS works in exactly the same way for Gen 5s.
I'm guessing that there is a procedure for tracking this car which the garages don't know about. I read somewhere that the 2WS button should be used in tracking etc. Could one of you be kind enough to put the procedure in words so that I can take it to the garage and get it done properly. When the tracking was done, and the front left was tracked to the left rear, and then the two fronts were aligned to each other to give 0 reading on the tracking equipment on both fronts, at that point the right rear had 5 and the left rear had 8 reading on the bars at the rear tracking equipment. I have no clue what that means (but am guessing either the rear left or right are out due to different readings), so the garage tracked it that the rears showed the same number, but the fronts were -1 & +1 appx. The engine was off during this whole process and no use of the 2WS button was used. Bog standard tracking it was - car on ramp, steered straight, locked and tracked.
Is it possible that lowering the car has caused the rears to go off the original settings? As far as the motors are concerned, I'm pretty sure that they are all working in good order and have checked them quite a few times as well. I have been told that camber can't be reset on this model, any issues there? Can the rear be adjusted the same way the fronts can be?
Really appreciate your help. Many thanks.
