Hi everyone!

It's been a long time since I've posted, but I couldn't resist bragging!

I got 500 miles on one tank -- without getting neither the "add fuel" alert nor the blinking single fuel gauge bar! (I recall reading somewhere that I shouldn't allow the fuel to drop below a quarter tank, so perhaps I deserve derision.) It's been warm, I've been driving a mostly flat highway in moderate traffic, keeping steady at 65 mph and not accelerating hard.
Gauge says 50.4 mpg right now -- on my last trip home, I had to be really steady to get it up from 49.8 to 50.4. Fortunately, there was light traffic on my 30-mile drive home.

I probably won't do this again, but I had to get
500 miles at least once.

Don't try this at home!

G.

Isn't it great, I have been getting about 525 miles to when the single bar clicks on. I do know I can push it on a typical run to 560 miles and have a little over a 1/2 gal left. Do not plan on doing it but it is what the car is doing here in Charleston SC. My typical run is leave the neighborhood, 0.3 miles, within 0.1 miles pull onto I-526 and up to 65 mph. Cross two high rise ship bridges, over the Wando and Cooper rivers, after 12 miles turn off and onto a 45 mph road with one stop light for 2 miles then into work. Plus the odd and ends seveal times a week to the golf course and weekends.

Love the car, the only problem to date is the CD player has quit and now gives me a CD Error message, just haven't had time to take it in.

My 7500 mile check up was easy once I showed them the maintenance book where it said my first 5 checkups were free.

The only thing I am waiting for is Cruse Control which I purchased when I ordered the car in November. I hope I got a good deal the dealer agreed to $100 for it.

Go to go office golf tournament starts in about 2 hours.

Joe

Hi,

The easy way is to add exactly one gallon after your fuel gauge starts blinking.

Then drive past the 500 mile mark and fill up.

You'll know just how far you could've gone without running out of gas!

(Saved me a 3-mile walk when I responded to Robert's "Trenton challenge" last week.)

Jeff (one OOG experience was enough for me)

PS For the Trenton challenge it came out to
524 miles on one tank.

Re: (Saved me a 3-mile walk when I responded to Robert's "Trenton challenge" last week.)

Oh no! I didn't expect to get you stranded. Sorry for the goading. (The target just seemed too easy).

I guess the extra gallon represents the gallon hiding in the folds of the bladder. Maybe you could'a lifted each side of Baby to get the hidden gallon to roll to the center? :-)

Robert Snyder
NJ-PIKACHU

No silly!

I was a-scared to leave Philly for Trenton "knowing" I could have anywhere from 10 to 100 miles left in the tank. (Who designed that fuel gauge anyway, Morton Thiokol?)

So's I added a gallon before the trip!

My only OOG was in October, as I remember.

Had I not added the gallon, I would've missed the station by a wee bit.

The numbers are documented somewhere around this mess I call my house.

Jeff (medical supplies just delivered to my front door--gotta get to work...)

PS Remember, fellow Priusites, there's a good 3/4 gallon unusable in tank at empty, and as Bob said, one may be able to "shake" a few more miles out of her!)

PPS Priusites is "negative" humor. Mom Earth told me a while back that Prius drivers are the OPPOSITE of a parasite--she calls us "greenies".
