Hi all!

I have a 1991 camry LE with a 3SFE engine. It has 137*** KM on it. It has been very well maintained over the years and I have not had a problem so far. Recently i've been thinking of switching to synthetic (penzoil platinum 5w-30) oil. Would any of you not recommend this ? thank you

IMHO, "synthetic" is a waste of money. Most "synthetic" on the market is still made from dino feed stocks, so doesn't give much better performance than dino. The only true synthetic today is RedLine, and it's $8 US a quart!

The only reason to change oil is that it gets contaminated. All oil gets contaminated at about the same rate. Most cars in North America are used in a "severe service" operation: short trips at lower speeds. Oil gets contaminated rapidly. Change it at 3-5 k miles.

Also best to stick with what you've been using, and not switch oils.

Hi im a mechanic you should def run a synthetic oil in your car, ppl say its a waste of money, its not in the long run it will save you money. and its much less hassel because you dont have to change it as often. all the cars that i put synthetic oil in @ work run better and come in w/ less engine problems down the road. you should try it and see how you like it, i def recomend synthetic oil.
