My son is borrowing his Aunt's 1991 Corolla because...sell it's a long story. Anyways, when it is cold out side it will not shift into over drive. Once warmed up it will. Well just this moring i asked him how things where since we changed the filter and fluid on it. He stated that as long as the water temp gauge is warm, it shifts fine. But while driving to work on a cold morning, the water temp drops and the car will shift out of OD and into 3rd. So my first thought to him was we need to change the T-stat on the car to keep the water temp up. This would keep the trans fluid warm and the car shifting ptoperly.
Does anyone out there agree with this logic? Has it happened to anyone? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
