Help!!

I am running a modified mototrcycle (Moto Guzzi) with an overbored engine and which I was advised uses the 92mm bore pistons from a Toyota Celica 2.4 litre type 22r. A couple of weeks ago one of the piston crowns cracked and I am left unable to locate a replacement.

The orginal piston, an ART, had the casting number 35020...................now according to several catalogues this does equate to a type 22r. I subsequently obtained a set of type 22r pistons and while the bore and gudgeon (wrist pin) are right, the piston crown has a central depression in it. This differs from the piston fitted to my Guzzi which has a central raised portion to the crown.

Clearly this will afect the compression ratio and I have been advised that there may have been several different pistons fitted to the type 22r.

Million dollar question...................does anyone have experience of a domed piston fitted to the type 22r, which model/engine were they fitted to and are there any generic suppliers. I don't particularly want to buy a set of 4, or have them supplied at great expense buy a specialist such as Wiseco.

Any help greatly appreciated as I'm not having much luck here in the UK

Thanks all

George

Domed pistons worked fine in my friend's type 22r. Got them cheap and fast from an online Canada auto parts shop.
