If it's a FWD and you operate it most of the time in two-wheel drive mode, you'll average around 17-19 MPG throughout the truck's life. Mine's a 95 SR-5 3.4 liter automatic, etc. I bought it new and just threw a connecting rod bearing after 200,100 miles.
Here's what I know about this truck:
The recall they issued years ago about head gaskets on some models - no joke, I blew a head gasket at 124,000 miles. Cost me a BUNDLE to fix at a dealer.
Gas mileage will go as high as - believe it or not - 24 MPG for a short while if you replace the front axle boots, repack the wheel bearings and put a fresh oil change on her. MPGs will fall back to 19 once the truck regains its sense of self...
And speaking of Four Wheel Drive... be sure to engage that FWD mode about once a month for a few minutes at least. This helps ensure those transfer case components stay happy and lubricated.
