MY 95 TACO. HAS THE 3.4L EVERY TIME YOU START THE TRUCK, IT REVS UP TO 2000,2300 RPMS FOR ABOUT 4 MINUTES. THIS IS DURING THE SUMMER OR WINTER IT DOESN'T MATTER.THIS IS FIRST START AND ANY TIME AFTER ABOUT 2 HRS. OF SITTING.TOOK TO DEALER SAID THEY RESET FATORY SETTINGS,BUT ONLY MADE MINOR IMPROVEMENT.DEALER SAID THEY JUST DO THAT.
IVE HAD THE TRUCK FOR A LONG TIME,CHANGED SEVERAL ITEMS BUT CANT FIGURE IT OUT? ALSO IT ONLY HAS 107000 MILES ON IT.
I HAVE TALKED TO OTHERS AND SAY THEIRS DOES IT BUT ONLY FOR ABOUT 30 SECS.

THIS CANT BE GOOD ON ENGINE.
ANY HELP WOULD BE HELPFULL

I'm guessing the throttle position sensor may be gunked up and may need to be cleaned. Check for looseness/tightness of the throttle cable as well. One more thing... LAY OFF THE CAPS LOCK AND QUIT SHOUTING!

It's an emissions thing. The engine has to warm up as quickly as possible because only once it's warm, can the cat due it's job.

4 minutes does seem a bit long. The thermostat might be stuck open. At 107k you should have had the timing belt replaced, along with the water pump and thermostat. If you have not, now would be a good time.
