(IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif) Thanx for allowing me to join the group Moderators.
I have a green 1995 Tercel DX 4 dr with 280000+ on it now aka the Turtle. I let my 19 year old cousin and 16 year old daughter drive it last Saturday (possibly a bad idea). I get in the car this past monday (3-23-09) and I hear a tap tap taping on my chamber door. I pressed the gas and the tapping turned to knocking this time on the engine.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/offtopic.gif) Im very saddened by this because I recently replaced both the left and right side axles and that was a challenge in itself. I dont want to lose this car because its been in the family since its creation basically. I am the third owner. The first was a little old lady in Brooklyn, MD and then my brother bought it from a car dealer in 97. He had this car while he was in the Air Force and drove it faithfully back and forth from Fayetteville, NC to Baltimore, MD. Even took it to Germany. Drove the Turtle on the Autobahn...very jealous after he called me bragging about it, got it up to 120 he said I asked MPH or kPH. MPH was his answer and I was heated...he turned the speedometer completely over but I cant do it.

Anyway, I want to know what this knocking is and how can it be resolved without spending hundreds of dollars doing it. Please save the Turtle, its the only one I love. Thanx in advanced for any replies. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)
