while comin home last night my 96 was having trouble making it up hills, then all the sudden it wouldnt go at all.engine runs fine, shifter goes into all gears.the engine and tran just dont seem to be connecting.
does this sound like the clutch?
what other things could it be?
ive checked axles,no play so i'm assuming thier fine.
any help would be great.
thanks all

You say clutch, but it sounds like you are talking about an auto. Which is it? It really sounds like an auto trans ran out of fluid.

That sounds like the clutch is gone. Did you happen to notice any smell when trying to get up the hill? Usually with a bad clutch it will not slip in first gear so you can get it rolling but then as you shift into 2nd and so on it will slip and the engine will start revving up.

I've got a 92 doing the same thing...I think. My 4-spd slips in 3rd and 4th gear when I rev in the 2500-3000rpm range.
