Hi, I have a usually very reliable 97 Limited. I don't usually need 4WD but once or twice a month since I bought it I put it in 4WD just to exercise it, I do the same with emergency brake. Well, I just got a boat, and while pulling up the ramp I spun the tires , so I clicked the 4WD button and nothing happened. No dash light, no clunk. I checked only the switch so far which shows continuity when depressed. I find it amazing that when I didn't need it, 4WD always worked, then, the first time I did actually needed it, whaddya know, it didn't. I'm guessing the actuator needs replacing? or does mine have vaccuum lines that might be leaking? I thought I read somewhere there is an ECU that controls everything? Any ideas as to how much these parts cost and what it most likely might be? Thanks, Ron

If there was weight or tension on the driveline at the time it may not have engaged. You would need to hold the brake, put the tranny in neutral and then switched to 4wd. Even then it may have required you to back up a few feet to engage. Have you tried putting in 4wd since then? What are the results? Thanks, Andy
