I have a 1.5 in my '91 DX & it was pretty useless with a 5 spd in it, but when I put the 4 spd in it, I noticed an amazing difference in its acceleration. It has a little more balls on the highway because it revs a bit higher. Also the 4spd transmission came out of a 91-93 2 door tercel.

tercels are lighter than celicas, you can get an engine swap if you find the right one and get mad power out of tercel. i think the 88+ Mr2 has same engine mount as newer tercels...its 1.8 24valve supercharged compared to 16v 1.5L
