I got hit from behind while waiting at a stoplight.

The driver wasn't paying attention; fortunately, the engineers at Toyota were. The shape, height, and resistance of the bumper absorbed the entire brunt of the impact. The only evidence that I even suffered a low-speed collision is a light scratch showing exactly where the license-plate made contact.

I didn't get hurt either. My head jolted back into the tall, soft head-rest which prevented wip-lash.

JOHN
http://home.att.net/~john1701a

I'm glad to hear that you and your Prius survived the low-MPH rear end collision unscathed.

I also like that the Prius has nice, high head-rests, too, although I haven't had the misfortune to try them out yet -- thankfully.

Take care, and watch out for those nut-case drivers behind you, too!

- Peter

John - Glad to hear you and the Prius fared well.

My Prius has been in the body shop now for 4 months and 4 days now since the accident. You are lucky the damage you received does not appear to require any parts!!!

I have become a much more rear view mirror aware driver when coming to a stop these days, and I am sure you will to.

Take Care and watch our for the cell phone users!

Alan

> Glad to hear you and the Prius fared well...
> in body shop now for 4 months and 4 days now
> since my accident

Thanks I'm glad I didn't get hurt. And as for 1701-A, what would a captain do with his/her ship. I thoroughly enjoy providing Prius content for you on my website (obviously). Not having a source of personal data anymore would be awful. (Plus, I'd really miss her.)
Anywho, one of the goals is to prevent anyone else from ever having to go through the lengthy delay you're experiencing by helping increase demand for the Prius. This is one case where more really is better.

> I have become a much more rear view mirror aware
> driver when coming to a stop these days

Living in Minnesota, I've had to come to a stop very quickly countless times because there's a deer crossing the road. And every single time I slam on the brake (without triggering ABS, since I've had so much practice) I don't even focus on the deer (especially because you usually can't figure out what they are going to do anyway). Instead, I look directly into the rear view mirror to insure my effort to prevent hitting the dear doesn't result into a demolition from behind.

Of course, sitting at a *RED* stoplight you typically assume the driver behind you will attempt to stop. Apparently, that isn't always the case.

JOHN
http://home.att.net/~john1701a
