Acetone added to regular gas. (Not premium)
I have been running mileage test over the past 2 months and here is what I have found.
My FJ will get
1. About 18 miles per gallon when I fill with regular. (288 miles per 16 gal)(Runs but noticeably less power.)
2. About 19 miles per gallon when I fill with premium.(304 miles per 16 gal)(Runs well)
3. About 21 miles per gallon when I add 6oz of acetone with regular. (336 miles per 16 gal)(Runs Great. Better then normal premium.)
4. About 19 miles per gallon when I fill with premium and add 6oz of acetone. (304 miles per 16 gal)(Runs well but no extra mileage.)

OK so you say only 2 mpg better is not much but I am also saving 20 cents per gallon on the gas and getting 10.5% better mileage over normal premium gas.

16 gal x .20cents = $3.20 saved on the gas per filling.
32 more miles per fill = 32/19=1.68 gals = $5.04 with $3.00 gas.

So now I have seen,
$3.20 + $5.03 = $8.23 saved with every tank of gas.

Acetone cost $13. per gallon which is .61 cents per filling.

I fill at least every week so I save,
$7.62 x 52 = $396.24 per year.

I keep my cars about 10 years so that is $3962.40 saved over the time I will own my FJ. Not Bad!

Take a look at this link.

There are some that say the acetone will cause rubber to swell and I am sure that in high concentrations it will but I am adding only 0.3% acetone to each gallon of gas.

As I know acetone will eat some plastic products and damage the paint, I refill a 6oz finger nail remover bottle and only keep this in my FJ. It is the perfect amount for a full tank refill and the plastic is for acetone.

For all of my testing, I filled at the same pump and did not top off after the pump stopped.

Please let me know what you think and if you try this let me know your results.

Considering you are quite new here, I think you work for a company that sells acetone.

I've never heard of adding acetone to gas. What are the effects of prolonged usage in the system?

no conclusive proof that acetone can safely boost your gas mileage, there is abundant evidence that acetone is an active ingredient in many "engine cleaners" and "fuel boosters."
