I was wondering about any small, affordable after-market mods I could do to my truck and where to buy them. I have a 2001 Prerunner Xtracab V6 and the throttle response seems slow. I don't know if it's just me because this is my first truck, I had a Civic before. I want to get the super-charger eventually but I don't have an extra $3000.00 sitting around! Any thoughts? Thanks.

ya, I here ya. I had a 92 prelude before. now i have a 2000 tacoma extra cab v6 4x4 and it seems not that responsive on the throttle. the best thing to do is get a cat back exaust and an intake system mabe a set of headers, because what is hapening is that your car is being retricted from the amount of air intake and exaust being entered and exited. car companies usually do this so that the car or truck doesn't have a loud exaust and intake, they also do it do it for environmental reasons. so get rid of it..

I kinda figured that, about the exhaust and intake thing. I had that stuff on my Civic and it was pretty responsive. It had a Greddy exhaust and it wasn't too loud, that's what I liked about the system. Can you recommend any brand-names of stuff?

I am probably going to put a K&N generation II on my truck it comes with a heat sheald whick looks like it will help in not sucking in dirt. they are expensive though. for my exaust I will put a cat back with a flowmaster or magna flow. I will just talk to the muffler shop and tell them what I want it to sound like. they will pick the diam. piping and the right muffler for my needs.

I've looked into the K&N Generation II ($196.94 at http://www.truckperformance.com) as well as the cat-back system for a 99' Tacoma 4cyl. The mechanic suggested that I go with a 50 series Flow Master because they feel I would be displacing too much air with a 40 series. You on the other hand can probably get away with it. It's an even better deal if you like the throaty sound of a 5.0 liter.
