I have a 2006 Corolla...and it's been so hot in Florida lately that I want to use my A/C but lately it's been eating up my gas to the point where it's too expensive to have the a/c running when I'm driving...Is there anything that I can do to make it stop eating my gas like it does? HELP.

Are you sure it's the AC that's killing your fuel economy? Is it a lot? (More than 5 MPG?)

If both answers are yes, then maybe your compressor is somehow going bad and seizing up (has anyone heard of this?), or maybe it's a problem with the belt and/or pulley. Either way, have someone look at it - I'm really only guessing, but no one else answered.

If you're not sure it's your AC, this might sound silly and unhelpful, but check your air filter, tire pressures, and change your oil. Any of those things are common contributors to bad fuel economy.

Ok thanks for the advice! I will definitely have it looked at. My car is still under warranty...so I will take it to the dealership. Thanks!
