I have an '01 RX300 that's about to hit 50k so the basic warranty is almost up. It runs very well but if there's anything we'd complain about is the air conditioning. Even at max a/c, it doesn't seem to cool as well as the other 3 vehicles we have. We have two sedans and a pickup truck so the RX300 cabin area is the largest area to cool. So maybe it's just a design issue where the a/c was sized a bit low for the cabin area? Or perhaps we have lost some refrigerant? If it's refrigerant loss, would this be covered under the 50k basic warranty? I'd also like to hear other owner's opinions of their RX300 a/c system, especially on a hot day.

I have a 2001 RX, as well. I live in south Texas where it is just about as hot as it gets in the summertime... My unit works fabulous, but I do notice that the nicest, most comfortable setting is around 73 degrees. If I had run the temp at 73 in my previous car (Olds Aurora) I'd have icicles on my ear lobes. I'd recommend getting the unit checked PRIOR to the warranty expiring. Good Luck !!

Thanks for your input. I took it to the dealership today for the 50k service and they couldn't find anything wrong. They measured the air temp coming out and it was 40 degrees, which is well within spec. They did lube the belts as they were squeeking a bit. So my guess is that it just takes a bit longer on a hot day to cool the larger cabin area down compared to our sedans and pickup truck.

Well, that's good news ! Just out of curiousity, what did the 50,000 mile maintenance cost at the dealer ? I only have 37,000 but I'd like to be prepared for the shot in the wallet !

It was a bit over $170, ouch! I think I will start doing some basic maintenance on my own like I do for my other vehicles, like oil and filter changes. I think the dealership charges $50 which is pretty ridiculous.
